Alex Maxwell
A native Californian raised by an Argentinian mother (who helped ensure that he also spoke fluent Spanish) and Angelino dad, Alex has been pursuing filmmaking for over twenty years, exploring the craft both independently and as a commercial director, stewarding projects from ideation through delivery.
He is guided by the principle that film is a space where human experiences and imagination can intersect. Alex revels in this magical overlap of what is and what could be. As a seasoned live-action director with a professional upbringing in VFX, Alex is regarded for his warm, laid-back energy that he brings to every set, and his ability to work with talent, garnering casting and performances that elevate everything he makes.
Alex’s deep-rooted sense of curiosity, paired with his creative versatility, has carried him through a range of executions. He takes pride in tackling dynamic assignments and bringing various concepts to life. In his personal work, Alex focuses on honor, integrity, and hubris. He is fascinated by how environments – both natural and industrial – can play a role in people’s search for self-knowledge, and his cinematic universe is characterized by surreally elevated, dreamlike qualities.
Alex lives in LA with his beautiful music producer wife (who did not help write this) and their two gorgeous, genius children, and is currently getting a masters degree in Social Work — a degree he plans to have complement his bachelors in Film.
